Possible applications are described of the theory of control in organizations to the design and implementation of efficient organizational control mechanisms for firms in Russian power supply and distribution industry. It is shown that by applying proper control mechanisms on different stages of interactions of electricity market participants one can sufficiently increase the efficiency criterion of the industry as a whole and to help solving a range of topical tasks of the industry, including consumption forecasting, peak shaving, demand response programs, feed-in tariffs policy, and innovations co-investments.
